Adaptive Medicine

Background

While adapting to life online with complementary and alternative medicine, I alienated healthcare workers by calling out practices I didn't fully agree with and I had to do without prescribed medications when travel made obtaining the medicines impossible, so I made way without.

Those who rely upon reporting, and others obstructed by it, can and do force solutions that recently denied us the architecture we relied upon for the adaptations we considered to be normal. I didn't have to rely upon code to obscure what I knew to be true, even when called out for behavior some might consider objectionable, but I did use code to describe unsavory activity because I wasn't allowed to use dirty words to express myself.

And because friends in college mocked the genetic modification of 'corn', which was the code word I used for marijuana at the time, I chose to use hypertext to clarify my meaning; terms like moldy dope were used to describe bag shake in a tin of water in the corner of a dark room, so we disambiguated our meaning with anchor text in hypertext documents to be clear. Like hashtag (#) today, which is also used to locate a sequence more carefully, the 'a' link is essential to me.

To prevent this work from continuing because some need to obscure the truth is a mistake. Like the ambiguity used to refer to the adultery we grew up with, to describe it by using concepts like: "getting lost following a cat on the avenue", didn't work, because my uncle was rounding up stray cats on the avenue to do research at the University and be rid of the problem.

To suggest that I'm above the behavior is ludicrous. Children live what they learn, so I don't harbor any resentment in the matter. I only hope to share better alternatives I've learned since then for those who are similarly afflicted, or choose to follow.

Tidbits

Enlightenment, not unlike the moon, isn't always a bright white light experience, though it can be. Rather more like an illumination of colors and shades that reveal everything required for our adaptation, even the times of departing.
